Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer's hard drive through your Web browser to enable our systems to recognize your browser and to provide features such as 1-Click purchasing and storage of items in your Shopping Cart between visits. What are cookies?
Cookies are small, often encrypted text files which are downloaded onto the computer or device you are using when you visit a website. The cookies are then sent back to that website on each subsequent visit or you travel to another website which can recognise that cookie. Cookies are small, harmless files which have lots of different uses including remembering your preferences such as your Shopping Basket. Cookies are also used to help us authenticate you when logging in to your account and can be used to keep you logged in on your next visit to save you time.
There are typically two types of cookies which both perform different functions:
- Session Cookies:
These are temporary cookies which are deleted when you close your internet browser. Next time you visit that website it will not recognise you and will treat you as a brand new customer.
- Persistent Cookies:
These cookies remain stored on your hard drive until you delete them or they expire. The expiry date can vary depending on how that website has programmed those cookies. You can delete these yourself via your web browser.
